The Production Operator 2 perform a wide variety of tasks in support of all shops in the component repair station. These positions assist in production activities by delivering materials and parts. Assignments will typically include: maintaining a clean working environment by sweeping and cleaning areas assigned but not limited to: Landing Gear, Wheels/Brakes, Blowers/Motors, Propeller and any other area deemed necessary to improve daily throughput of the Component Services business. The incumbents at the Level 1 classification are responsible for maintaining an OJT history of his/her training and submitting it to the Training Coordinator for training record. The Production Operator positions typically report directly to the Crew Chief.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Knowledge of:

• Pertinent codes, rules, and regulations in area of responsibility

• Blasting using plastic and glass media

• Basic keyboard and computer use such as creating, entering, retrieving and printing from Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.

• Various computer systems for data collection

• Basic mathematical and measurement principles

• Safety rules and regulations

Ability to:

• Obtain and maintain a Forklift certification/license

• Read and interpret information pertaining to safety rules, standard operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relations with those encountered in the course of work

• Demonstrated problem analysis and independent decision making

• Read, write and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance

• Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unit of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

• Work overtime and weekends on short notice

• Respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

PRODUCTION OPERATOR 2

Working under general supervision, the Production Operator (Level 2) performs a variety of production activities requiring knowledge of processes, operations, and equipment in the component repair station.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Repairs aircraft component

• Performs aviation or automotive maintenance

• Writes routine reports and correspondence

• Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

• Reads, understands, and responds to written instructions and logbook notations

• Informs appropriate personnel of materials and equipment problems

• Recognizes and identifies the existence of a problem as well as elements of a problem

• Performs a task in the presence of distracting stimulation or under monotonous conditions without significant loss of thought process and efficiency

• Operates hand and power tools

• Interprets drawings, specifications and schematics of aircraft components

• Utilizes schematics and drawings to follow how an assembly functions and how various assemblies interact with each other

• Performs part washing, using the parts washers and spray off booth

• Performs related duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or equivalent GED and at least two (2) years of experience in work directly related to aircraft component maintenance, automotive component maintenance/repair, small engine repair/maintenance.

Knowledge and abilities of the following are required:

• Knowledge of how to use precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauges)

• Knowledge of blasting using plastic and glass media

• Demonstrated problem analysis and independent decision making

• Understand usage of precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and dial bore gauges

Some positions would require overtime during weekends on short notice.

Performance Standards:

Attainment of annual goals established between superior and incumbent in annual merit performance appraisal.

• Recognition as an expert in production operation in the component repair station

• Certified Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Inspector
