Job Description

Summary

Lead, facilitate, and execute continuous improvement projects using a variety of Continuous Improvement Skills including Six Sigma, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, (5S/Visual Factory, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Events) and FMEA. Projects require a cost justification; project plans and timely focused project execution resulting in measurable, sustained business improvements.

Essential Functions

Plan and Lead CI Initiatives throughout the TIMET Toronto plant.

Plan and Lead Six Sigma Teams.

Support other TIMET Black Belts on Improvement Projects as required.

Plan and Lead Lean Manufacturing Initiatives.

Work with Customers on Continuous Improvement Initiatives as required.

Plan and Lead FMEA teams.

Plan and Lead Kaizen Events.

Plan and Lead Waste (Lean) Workshops.

Coordinate and Lead Inter-Plant Lean Audits

Coordinate SPC activities throughout the TIMET Toronto plant.

Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Toronto processes and the application of SPC to monitor those characteristics.

Train plant personnel in the Continuous Improvements methodologies employed.

Work with Finance to track projects.

Edit and Publish TIMET Toronto CI Newsletter

Develop cost justifications for improvement projects and corrective actions

Assist with the development/implementation of the Plant Information System.

Determine and install appropriate performance metrics that will promote long-term continuous improvement programs consistent with the operating objectives of the plant.

Provide support for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.

Perform other related duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities

Work with other TIMET locations on continuous improvement initiatives as required.

Utilize Access databases and Excel Worksheets as required.

Utilize SAP to obtain information to support improvement initiatives.

Attend training classes and seminars to learn C.I. methodologies and improvement tools.

Qualifications

Competencies

Extensive knowledge and training in Six Sigma methodology

Strong Project Management skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to provide leadership

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field.

Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

Technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, with 5S and TOC experience a definite plus

Experience with SAP a plus

Five years related work experience

Special Skills

Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results.

Six Sigma Black Belt

Experience using Lean Tools – Value Stream Mapping, Visual Factory/5S

Experience Leading FMEA/Root Cause Analysis Teams

Ability to influence and gain commitment at all levels of the organization.

Ability to leverage best practices across the organization.

Goal oriented, data driven, with a strong sense of urgency.

Project Management experience and the ability to successfully close out time dependent programs.

Commitment to “Supply Chain” Improvement and Customer Focus

Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.

The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

At least three years of experience in delivering training on Six Sigma tools, techniques, and methodologies at all levels within an organization.

A comprehensive level of computer literacy in order to handle the high demand for technical authoring, procedural documentation, reporting and analysis.

Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

Flexible/adaptable; able to work with diverse groups of people and in many different situations.

High performance teams and a strong team player.

Proof of US citizenship, nationality, and/or permanent resident status in order to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations.
