Defect Maintenance Engineer

About the role:

We are seeking a Defect Management Engineer (DME) to join our Technical Operations team in Brisbane. This role will see providing effective actions to capture, assess, review and coordinate rectification of deferred aircraft defects. You may also be required to assist with mid to long-term AOG Management as determined by your Team Leader.

Other typical duties will include:

* Maintaining oversight and status of all open defects to ensure timely rectification

* Reviewing maintenance logs for correctness and input maintenance log data into TRAX

* Carrying out a technical assessment of open defects to determine required actions by the MRO to rectify the defect

* Review of technical data, troubleshooting, raising requisitions to order/ transfer parts

* Arranging for defects to be added to W/O’s and the DML, taking into consideration man-hours, port capacity and priority.

* Researching and raising requests with OEM’s, approved persons and CASA for Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), PUs or Special Flight Permits

* Producing reports that determine defect clearance and deferral rates and trends to identify existing process continuous improvement.

About you:

We are looking for a candidate who has effective communication skills with a minimum 5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

* A working knowledge of aircraft structure and systems, including the propulsion system, for the aircraft/ engine types operated by the Virgin Australia

* Proficiency in the use of the MS Office Suite and TRAX

* A knowledge of a Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Organisation (CAMO) and the associated regulatory requirements

* Holding, or having the ability to gain a B1, B2 or C Aircraft Engineer Licence is desirable
