Job Summary

The Integrated Solutions for Engineering (ISE) organization is seeking a dedicated, passionate and self-motivated Electrical CAD Tool Smith / Electrical Engineer that understands the newest software technologies and can apply those technologies to the Hardware Engineering design space for Electrical Design tools. We are looking for a CAD Tool Smith/Electrical Engineer that has the ability to work with others in the company to develop solutions associated with the alignment and integration of CAD tools. The individual will be responsible for working with groups throughout the company to assist them with development of CAD solutions plans and structure to ensure users are successful in utilizing tools to perform their daily tasks. This includes working with tool vendors and team members to develop the end solutions.

The position supports production Electrical CAD instances throughout the Rockwell Collins enterprise . The position requires developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of current application portfolio and the technical needs of programs and functional end-users. This includes development of automation scripting and code, as well as addressing end-user incidents and requests for assistance within agreed service level guidance in support of business and IT priorities.

Job Responsibilities

* End-user support of CAD software including, but not limited to Zuken , Mentor , SolidWorks , and Multi-CAD Data Management and Integrations in development and production environments.

* Perform root cause analysis, debugging problems with the CAD environment and working with the appropriate technical teams to develop, test, and implement fixes to prevent recurrence.

* Monitor, address, and resolve production CAD environment incidents, service requests, workflows, client install packages, etc., collaboratively with the PDM development and administration teams.

* Document all aspects of system support such that knowledge is readily shared among all those tasked with supporting CAD instances.

* Support System Integration and User Acceptance Testing as necessary.

* Provide tool demos to users.

* Prepare training material and arrange training sessions for business users.

* Support business readiness and change management activities prior to go-live and in production.

* Research and propose new technology for the Electrical Design space.

This position will require travel to Rockwell Collins regional locations and vendor locations. It is expected the travel will be less than 10%

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree four to six plus years of related experience

* The successful candidate should have several years of practical experience that will be leveraged to identify opportunities to expand the supporting tools needed to enable Hardware Engineering to perform at their highest levels. The candidate will find success in enabling the Hardware Engineers at Rockwell Collins to continue our long tradition of high quality, innovative products while pushing the frontiers of design tool applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Knowledge in the use and application of MBD/PMI for Hardware design, Visualization tools, CAE Validation and Verification tools and Translator tools among other tools is a plus.

* Prior experience with primary CAD tools (Mentor, Zuken) for PCB layout, constraints management, analysis, simulation and integrations to PDM/PLM tools is preferred.

* Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years’ of professional experience highly preferred.
