Day to Day:

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to join the Chromalloy New York (CNY) team and drive the mission as defined by Chromalloy’s East Region Engineering Director. The Engineering Manager will lead a group of engineering professionals engaged in NPI, Process Development and Production Technical Support. The role involves mentoring and guiding less experienced engineers and building a strong cohesive team at CNY.

Primary Accountabilities:

* Lead New Product Development (NPI) projects ensuring adherence to schedule and budget

* Conduct thorough Risk Analysis to identify and manage risk

* Communicate monthly NPI status measured against established metrics defined in the Management Operating System (MOS)

* Ability to communicate and interpret inspection criteria and data with inspectors and customer design engineers

* Statistically evaluate dimensional data to define improvement opportunities

* Leadership role model in terms of professional behaviors, personal accountability, upholding company policy and ethics

* Actively assess engineering needs and capacity matched to business objectives establishing a robust staffing plan

* Drive process improvement by performing process audits to defined schedule and driving closure of findings

* Actively engage in development of engineering team members by coaching and mentoring along with assessing skills/knowledge gaps

* Generate individual development plans for engineering team members to foster their growth and close skill/knowledge gaps

* Lead product cost analysis for estimating new work by reviewing customer technical data and utilizing cost estimating tools

* Utilize process knowledge, applied engineering principles, and creativity to develop robust processes capable of consistently meeting yield targets

* Actively participate in Community of Practices working with participants from other Chromalloy business units to drive best practices.

* Actively support Technology Road Map by working technology projects as part of annual development plan

* Provide daily engineering support to production operations

* Collaborate with the Customer Service/Sales Department to meet customer requirements

* Utilize Six Sigma, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools and techniques to optimize processes

What you will do:

CNY’s core business is engaged in the application of advanced high temperature oxidation resistant and thermal barrier coatings applied on various airfoils within the high-pressure turbine of modern gas turbine engines. This role requires a thorough understanding of various coating systems including: Thermal Spray, Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition and Diffusion coatings. System knowledge of gas turbines engines and materials is also a requirement.

Additional Information:

Education:

BS in Mechanical Engineering and/or Material Science

MS in Engineering, Material Science or Engineering Management/Leadership a definite plus

Experience:

* At least ten (10) years related experience in the aerospace industry

* Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in production and new product readiness planning and management

* Experience leading and developing teams

Required Skills:

* Technical background related to manufacturing of turbine engine components. GD&T and Six Sigma training a plus. Experience with FAI and Statistical Process Capability submittals required

* Technical knowledge of Turbine Coatings and manufacturing processes such as: Thermal Spray, EB PVD, Diffusion Coatings, Precious Metal Plating, Heat Treatment and various coating pre and post operations

* Knowledge of aerospace industry

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Good computer skills

* Excellent organizational skills

* Candidate must be a self-starter able to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and successful in working in a team environment

* Project management and team leadership to successfully complete complex projects within demanding customer requirements
