The Doncasters Group is a leading international manufacturer of high-precision alloy components which are designed to operate in the most demanding of conditions. Our products are innovative and tenacious and we are looking for a Lab Metallurgist/ Metallographer who can bring a knowledgeable and passionate approach to Doncasters based in Droitwich.

Our Doncasters Precision Castings supply complex metallurgical products to a variety of customers worldwide. Due to continued business growth the company is now looking to recruit a Lab Metallurgist/ Metallographer to provide support within the foundry and castings environment, conducting important examinations of both production parts and new products in line with customer specifications.

The role will involve:

• Metallurgical Validations/Investigations/Production

• Communicate requirements to Lab personnel and supervision

• Inspect and report findings as per customer requirements

• Production, validation and investigation metallographic examination and reports

• Reviewing and reporting HIP Closure bars and surface contamination samples

• Macrostructure assessments

• Welding approvals and assessments

• Technical Support and Liaison

• Provide metallurgical support to Lab and other departments as required.

• Liaise with customers, sub contractors and suppliers as required

• Control all technical literature and standards stored within the Laboratory

• Support with thermal processing, chemical analysis and mechanical checks and certification as required.

• Auditing & Calibration

• Audit internal departments and sub-contractors as required

Ensure all microscopes are maintained within calibration

Interested?

Ideal applicants will have experience in a hot metal environment having completed studies in Metallurgy/ Material Science with exposure to Ni and Co Base Superalloys.

In this demanding and diverse role you will be working with products with have either gone through the Lost Wax Casting Process or Thermal Processing and we are keen to hear from individuals who have an understanding of these processes.
