Job Summary

The Autonomy & Mission Engineering Solutions department is looking for a dynamic Sr Engineering Manager to provide additional leadership for the Common Technologies Tools Team (CT3). The CT3 team provides critical business and engineering software tools and technologies. These tools include Staffing Center, iSAT, Bidmaster, and many other SAP, COBRA, and other business systems & integration efforts.

This role will maintain interaction with major internal finance and engineering customers and leadership across a globally distributed engineering & finance team. This position focuses on managing a group of systems and software engineers developing next generation business integration tools across Collins Aerospace Mission Systems.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include managing individuals contributing technical talent, planning, organizing, resource allocation, personnel development, performance reviews, salary planning, as well as project management skills including earned value analysis. This includes working across Avionics and Missions Systems business units, and our International teams to ensure successful project completion, drive common practices and methods, as well as enabling teams to proactively manage project execution. Additional responsibilities will include customer interaction, and communication with department and finance management. A successful candidate will have knowledge of earned value and schedule management, software and systems development process and practices, and experience leading a team of several people. The candidate must demonstrate sound decision making skills, strategic thinking, communication skills, networking skills, and able to accurately forecast project work and costs.

The selected candidate will work directly with and/or manage daily activities of engineers, perform project engineering and program management tasks when applicable, responsible for the development and progression of a product line roadmap, and interfacing with support organizations during the development of products. The candidate will work closely with Technical Project Managers, finance and engineering Management, Systems, Software, and support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a program’s lifecycle. A successful candidate will need the ability to matrix multiple programs and development tasks while supporting project objectives of meeting cost and schedule goals.

Candidate will lead the engineering team using strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills, and will be responsible for managing project risks/issues and elevating to upper management when appropriate. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for adhering to, and supporting Collins Aerospace process methodologies while developing and managing commitments to meet project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline

* Previous experience as a Software, Systems Lead, or Project Engineer

* Passion for business, finance, and engineering tool integration

* Systems engineering experience (minimum 5 years)

* Demonstrated experience with Agile software development and planning models

* Project planning and people management experience

* Ability to travel 10%. Potential international travel once per year.

The ideal candidate will also have the following:

* Experience briefing Director and Vice President levels with Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Experience leading teams that deliver SW to thousands of users

* Experience with training developments and rollouts

* Experience establishing new systems discipline processes and methods

* SW integration Experience with SAP, COBRA, or other Collins Aerospace HR, business, finance, and engineering system databases

* Experience working with the Collins Aerospace India Design Center

A successful candidate will possess:

Strong leadership skills as demonstrated with interpersonal interaction, individual mentoring to develop the team composition, and training.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment.

Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, while balancing priorities and schedules are important attributes.

Self-starter and have strong analytical skills.

System level test planning, configuration management and test execution.
