Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer 2/3 for the Engineering, Manufacturing & Sciences (EM&S) Central Region Engineering in Huntsville, AL. Huntsville is the headquarters for the Missile Defense and Protective Systems (MDPS) division.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Responsible for the development, refinement and documentation of key algorithm capabilities to support various MDA and US Army programs.
Collaboration with senior algorithm engineers to support the development of ground breaking advances against emerging threats and capabilities.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3.

BQs for a Systems Engineer 2: Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or similar STEM field with 2 years of related experience (or 0 years with a Masters)

BQs for a Systems Engineer 3: Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or similar STEM field with 5 years of related experience (or 3 years with a Masters or 0 years with PhD).

Experience in data analysis, algorithm development, requirements development, modeling & simulation, or interface development
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical personnel
Experience with one of the following: Algorithm, Matlab, Python and SQL
Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Algorithms
Active Secret Clearance
Experience applying statistical methods to datasets to characterize system behavior and optimize performance
Experience with wireless point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint communication devices and systems
Experience with database management systems including Microsoft SQL Server, SQLite, and/or MySQL
Experience with Agile Development lifecycle process
Experience with user interface design
Ability to use Microsoft Visio
