Job Summary

This position is for a Systems Engineer on the Advanced Systems team in the Airborne Products and Systems organization. The Advanced Systems team is a research and development group responsible for supporting the maturation of key emerging technologies and differentiators required to position Collins Aerospace for both current and future growth opportunities; supporting our military and their partners. This includes, but is not limited to, advancements in next generation Human Machine Interface (HMI), helmet mounted displays, communications management and vehicle control, personal electronic devices, as well as, model-based engineering processes, tools, techniques, formal methods analysis, cyber security and Open Systems development.

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about continuous improvement and have a desire to identify and drive efficiencies through process enhancements by utilizing new and emerging tools and technologies. This is an opportunity to engage in the early stages of redefining our systems engineering processes and practices to deliver incredible value throughout our enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities of this position include the following:

* Revolutionary enhancements to our current systems engineering process utilizing current and next generation tools & technology

* Advance, mature, and validate model-based system engineering methods and tools to enable cost reductions through automation, reduced defects, and increased reuse

* Rapidly ensure cyber-resilient, functionally correct, verifiably safe components and systems using architecture driven-assurance and virtual integration

* Demonstrate benefits, identify gaps, and further inform a model-based engineering transition process

* Develop robust simulation and emulation environments

* Demonstrate feature prototypes to internal and external customers

Skills that we are seeking:

* Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, excellent interpersonal skills and proactive problem-solving abilities.

* Creativity and alternative thinking to develop new or novel ideas to solve problems.

* Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions

* Must be a self-starter, be able to multi-task, and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results

* Experience with design, requirements capture, development, and integration of complex military avionics software systems

* Experience with avionics development processes such as (ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-254, DO-178)

* Experience with systems/software modeling languages (SysML, UML, AADL, or equivalent)

* Experience with visual modeling and design tools (Enterprise Architect or equivalent)

* Experience with DoD open systems architecture and protocols (FACE, JCA, HOST, etc)

* Experience with scripting and scripting languages (JavaScript, VBScript, Python, or equivalent)

* Software development experience with any high-level programming language a plus

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

* U.S. Citizenship is required

* Must possess or be eligible for obtaining and maintaining a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance
